Jamie Wong has dedicated over two decades to entrepreneurship and media for social impact. She holds a Master’s degree in Journalism from Columbia University, where she was awarded the Chancellor Scholarship, and a Bachelor’s degree in Intellectual History from Wesleyan University, where she received the Butterfield Prize for her character, leadership, and intellectual commitment and contributions to the community.
Jamie began her career as a paralegal at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, supporting incarcerated individuals and working on discrimination cases. She then worked with Michael Moore on Fahrenheit 9/11 and as a producer at The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. She later founded Vayable, an online platform connecting travelers with local artists and creators, Benefit Studios, an innovation consultancy for nonprofits and Narrative Fund, an impact investment fund.
Born in Berkeley, California and raised by a mother of eastern european Jewish heritage and a Chinese Buddhist and Daoist father, Jamie grew up bilingual and immersed in the rituals and traditions from both sides of her family. She first began practicing meditation in school at 9 years old and made her first pilgrimage to Tibet when she was 25. She met the Dharma in earnest in 2016 when she attended a lecture by Khenpo Rinchen Gyaltsen on the Bodhicaryāvatāra at the Sakya Center in Spain. She left her company in 2017 and moved to Alicante, Spain as a volunteer for the Sakya Center (Paramita) under the guidance of Khenpo Rinchen Gyaltsen where she helped design and build the current Paramita website and online learning platform. Through Khenpo Rinchen’s infinite generosity, she has been blessed to become a student of His Holiness Gongma Trichen Rinpoche, His Holiness Ratna Vajra Rinpoche and His Holiness Gyana Vajra Rinpoche.
Jamie currently lives in Paris, France and continues to have the privilege to collaborate on projects for Paramita and with the Sachen Foundation on the Dharma Chakra Project.
