Ani Jamyang Wangmo was born in 1960. She was educated and awarded with a Bachelor degree in Taiwan. Her secular career involved working for 3-years as a senior high school Chinese teacher. For 8 years Ani Wangmo stayed in America – 5 years which were spent at the Karmapa’s North America main seat KTD and retreat center.
She received the getsul-ma ordination from the late Chogye Trichen Rinpoche in March 1995 in India.
From 1995 to 2000, Ani Wangmo lived at the Jamchen Lhakhang Monastery in Nepal to assist in the building of the sangha and guest houses. Starting in 2000 she returned to India and helped with various successful fund-raising activities for: Sakya Academy; Ani Gompa in Dehradun; Sakya Kalimpong temple; and Sakya Hospital.
In 2008, Ani Wangmo founded Taipei Sakya Mañjuśrī center. Additionally, she founded and supervised the publishing of Melody of Dharma magazine for the Sakya Dolma Phodrang.
In addition to her breadth of fundraising and philanthropic experiences Ani Wangmo is also a dedicated dharma practitioner. She has received numerous teachings from His Holiness Sakya Trichen Rinpoche such as the common and uncommon Lamdre, and has successfully completed a number of retreats.
